General objectives of the program
Establish a suitable framework (teams, projects, climate...) for innovation, production and dissemination of scientific advances in the fields of the doctoral programme.
To develop a range of diverse activities (e.g. seminars, debates, exhibitions...) that will enable students to develop the necessary skills to build leading knowledge and the capacity to expand the limits of existing knowledge in social, environmental and organisational psychology.
To offer rigorous and multidisciplinary training to scientists in training, so that they can join research teams or national and international professional fields in social and organisational psychology.

If the candidate's master's degree is not related to the doctoral programme, the candidate must submit an official document detailing the number of hours of training they have received in research skills. (maximum 3 points)

Recommended applicant profiles.

In general, prospective students should hold a master's degree in Social Psychology, Psychology of Work, Organizations and Human Resources, or master's degrees with similar contents. There are two recommended applicant profiles:

1. Recommended applicant profile for admission to the doctoral programme without bridging courses:the courses of study that enable candidates to access the doctoral programme without taking additional bridging subjects include the UB master's degrees in Psychology of Work, Organizations and Human Resources and in Psychosocial Intervention, as well as master's degrees in similar disciplines during which candidates have completed at least 40 credits on the theoretical principles of social psychology, and at least 20 credits on the development of research skills (these candidates will have completed an original, supervised research project that has been assessed by an examination panel).

2. Other profiles: Applications from students in possession of other master's degrees will be considered individually, to determine whether additional bridging courses must be taken before beginning the doctoral programme.

In general terms, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills and competences:

1. Initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and concern for quality.
2. Capacity to identify problems, seek original solutions and implement them in a research or professional context.
3. Capacity to analyse, summarize, organize, plan and communicate in Spanish and in English (students should have a level of English language proficiency equivalent to the First Certificate in English, or higher).
4. Capacity to form an opinion about current and future ethical and social problems in the social sciences in general.
5. Capacity for on-going self-directed and independent learning, and for gathering and selecting the information required to carry out original research that incorporates new knowledge.
6. IT skills (bibliographic databases), for processing scientific and technical information.
7. Ability to identify a question or significant hypothesis about a topic or problem and the capacity to formulate objectives, design and carry out a project to address the issue.
8. Ability to carry out, present and defend an original research project in the area of social psychology and industrial and organizational psychology.
9. Ability to recognize emerging, relevant areas of social psychology and industrial and organizational psychology.

The criteria for admission to the doctoral programme and for the supervision of doctoral theses, established the academic committees of previous editions of the programme, govern the assessment of the research plan (first monitoring report) and for the second and third reports on the progress of the doctoral thesis:

Research Plan(or thesis project to submit in the first year)

1. Detailed description of the research plan, covering the theoretical framework, research question, objectives, and key bibliographic sources.

2. Justification of the novelty and relevance of the proposed research and its contribution to the field.

3. Detailed description of the research plan, covering the proposed methodology and work plan (proposed analyses, sample of participants, timeline).

4. Supervisor's report.

5. Other aspects to assess (e.g. the candidate's rigour, interest, contribution, successes or meaningful learning, incorporation into the research area and with the project leaders, etc.).

Progress in the second year and subsequent years

1. Detailed description of structural and theoretical progress with the thesis.

2. Detailed description of structural and theoretical progress with the thesis.

3. Detailed description of progress towards desired results (results for each of the objectives/ hypothesis / research question/s).

6. Supervisor's report.

7. Other aspects to assess (e.g. rigour, interest, contribution to the field, successes or meaningful learning outcomes, integration into the research team, relationship with project leaders, etc.).

Each progress report must be accompanied by a brief description of the academic activities undertaken at the same time as the doctoral thesis:

Activities completed (to be included in each annual report)

1. Courses taken or taught (specify the institution, number of hours, place, date and the relevance of the subject to the doctoral programme).

2. Presentations or attendance of scientific conferences (complete reference).

3. Scientific publications (complete reference, including the impact factor and the indexing databases, if applicable).

4. Research placements at other universities (indicating the institution, dates, supervisor and content).

5. Participation or collaboration in research projects (state the funding entity, principal investigator, project title, code, dates and specific tasks that were carried out).

6. Other research-related activities.

Salidas profesionales
Students who have already obtained their doctorate multiply the options for professional opportunities in the fields of Social and Environmental Psychology and Human Resources and Organisations.
One of the most natural opportunities is that of university lecturer and/or researcher in different research centres and institutes in the broad spectrum of Social Sciences related to human behaviour.
The essential search for and updating of knowledge makes PhD graduates highly desirable candidates for many institutions, social entities and companies seeking to improve human, social and environmental behaviour.
On the other hand, the world of consultancy and advice to public and private institutions, large and small, are also common professional opportunities.
