Aims
|

|
|
The aim of the Masters in Animal Biodiversity is to offer graduates in biology, environmental science and related subjects, as well as professionals from a range of sectors (teaching, public administration, NGOs, environmental consultancy) high-quality training so that they can further their knowledge and understanding of the issues related to animal biodiversity from both a research and professional perspective.
Students who complete the program have the skills to work in public research organizations, companies, government bodies, NGOs and other local, regional, national and international organizations that require advanced knowledge of animal diversity and related issues.

Admission/selection criteria and evaluation of applicant's academic and other merits

- Academic record
- Knowledge of English
- Knowledge of the official languages of Catalonia
- A statement outlining the reasons why they wish to take the course (included as part of their application form).
- Candidates might be called for interview
- Candidates might have to provide references from their university teachers or researchers.

Specific admission requirements
|
|
|
|
Graduates in Biology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, Forest Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Veterinary Science, Pharmacy or other similar qualifications following authorization and/or recognition from the University of Barcelona.
|

Skills profile
|
|
|
|
On completion of the Masters, the postgraduate student will have acquired the ability to:
1) Demonstrate a broad base of knowledge and understanding of animal biodiversity, in particular, its origins, evolution and maintenance, as well as the practical implications of these processes, so as to be able to identify problems, and to come up with original solutions and apply them in a research or professional setting.
2) Apply the knowledge acquired, by adopting a broad multidisciplinary approach, to changing social environments and new research contexts.
3) Integrate the knowledge society calls for concerning animal biodiversity with present and future environmental issues; in particular, the ability to evaluate critically the study and management of animal populations.
4) Undertake research work in the field of animal biodiversity and to evaluate the results obtained.
5) Communicate clearly and concisely their knowledge and appraisals of the latest issues in animal biodiversity and the implications derived from their studies to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
6) To keep up-to-date in the field and to study autonomously.
