| Aims |
|
The main aim of the Masters is for students to acquire advanced academic training in the field of astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics and cosmology by:
a) studying the contents of their chosen subjects from a wide program of courses. b) acquiring the methodology for undertaking research and for writing a doctoral thesis in their chosen field by conducting one or more research projects. c) acquiring the skills needed for making scientific presentations and d) acquiring the skills to form part of a research group or, eventually, to work in a company operating in these research areas. |
| Admission/selection criteria and evaluation of applicant's academic and other merits |

Admission on to the program (unlimited number of places available) is the responsibility of the Masters Coordinating Committee. Graduates in Physics can be admitted directly on to the program. All other applicants will be considered on the strength of their previous studies and academic record.

| Specific admission requirements |
|
The Masters seeks to provide students with a continuation of their training in astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics and cosmology, subjects currently being taught by the Faculty of Physics as part of the second cycle of the degree in Physics and the doctorate programs in Astronomy and Meteorology and Advanced Physics, both of which have received a quality mention from the Ministry of Education and Science.
Students seeking admission must be in possession of a degree in any of the experimental sciences, mathematics or engineering. The Masters Coordinating Committee will determine the number of ECTS credits students will be required to take depending on the subjects they have already studied. |
