Aims
|
|
|
|
The Masters in Cultural Management seeks to give students the necessary professional skills to work in the field of cultural heritage. The principal job opportunities for those completing the course lie in:
- Management of cultural heritage in both the public and private sectors.
- Conservation of cultural heritage.
- Design of heritage projects.
- Exhibition design and production.
- Museums and centres of cultural heritage management.

Admission/selection criteria and evaluation of applicant's academic and other merits
|
|
|
|
Candidates will be selected by a specially appointed admissions committee on the basis of the following criteria:
a. Personal skills and the degree to which their professional and academic experience matches the objectives of the program.
b. Professional experience gained in the management of cultural heritage.
c. Previous studies in cultural or heritage management, or related fields.
d. Knowledge of foreign languages.
e. Academic record in undergraduate studies.

Specific admission requirements
|
|
|
|
Candidates should hold a university degree, preferably in the humanities or social sciences. Students having completed the first cycle only of an undergraduate course must take additional foundation courses for which credits (30) will be awarded.
Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the field, be endowed with good common sense, demonstrate the ability to conceptualise their ideas, have good leadership skills, the ability to develop their managerial and communicative abilities, and be actively involved in the cultural development of their community or artistic field.

Skills profile
|
|
|
|
Given its predominantly professional orientation, the program centres on the development of the following areas of knowledge and skills:
a. To understand the evolution in the trends of museology and heritage management at the national and international scales.
b. To understand the main theoretical aspects involved in the conceptualisation of cultural heritage from within different disciplines and from the perspective of specific issues.
c. To understand the key elements involved in the economic, political and legal framework of heritage planning and management.
d. To understand the criteria used in the research of cultural heritage and its diffusion.
e. To be able to solve problems related to heritage management in a variety of areas, especially as part of a multidisciplinary team.
f. To be able to produce museological and museographic projects.
g. To be able to use the main techniques in the diffusion of cultural heritage, museography and its public and private management.
h. To acquire the technical and conceptual skills for the design and organisation of exhibitions, monument "musealization", and landscape intervention programs.
i. To exploit the teaching/learning potential of the contents produced in the heritage environment.
