Aims
 
The Masters in Cultural Management seeks to give students the necessary professional skills to undertake tasks of cultural management and administration. On completion of the program, students should be able to take up positions of responsibility in the various cultural areas of both the public and private sector, including the world of audiovisuals, books, scenic arts, music, heritage services or visual art, among many others. The principal job opportunities for those completing the course are:
- Manager of cultural, heritage or cultural-tourism events.
- Manager or administrator of cultural services, facilities and projects.
- Cultural mediator.
- Manager of cultural companies and industries.
- Programmer and promoter of social and cultural activities.
 
Admission/selection criteria and evaluation of applicant's academic and other merits
 
Candidates will be selected by a specially appointed admissions committee on the basis of the following criteria:

a. Personal skills and the degree to which their professional and academic experience matches the objectives of the program.
b. Professional experience gained in the field of cultural management.
c. Previous studies in cultural or heritage management, or related fields.
d. Knowledge of foreign languages.
e. Academic record in undergraduate studies.
 
Specific admission requirements
 
Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the field, be endowed with good common sense, demonstrate the ability to conceptualise their ideas, have good leadership skills, the ability to develop their managerial and communicative abilities, and be actively involved in the cultural development of their community or artistic field. 13;

Candidates should hold a university degree, preferably in the humanities or social sciences. Students having completed the first cycle only of an undergraduate course must take additional foundation courses for which credits will be awarded.
 
Skills profile
 
Given the professional orientation of the program, the courses focus on the development of the following areas of knowledge and skills:
- To understand and to be able to interpret the evolution in the paradigms of cultural policies at the national and international scales.
- To understand and to be able to analyse the main theoretical aspects involved in the conceptualisation of cultural management.
- To understand and to be able to interpret the economic, political and legal framework, as well as the different management approaches involved in the public and private planning and administration of culture.
- To understand and to be able to interpret the criteria applied in cultural production, diffusion and conservation.
- To be able to justify and undertake conceptual designs, as well as to implement and manage a cultural project.
- To be able to manage public and private cultural organizations, and apply the management techniques involved in cultural production and diffusion.
- To be able to evaluate the viability of each project and to call upon the appropriate professionals to implement it successfully.
- To acquire the technical and conceptual skills to design, implement and evaluate cultural programs.
- To exploit the teaching/learning potential of the contents produced in the cultural environment.
- To be able to advise government bodies in the design and implementation of cultural policies and projects.
- To be able to promote the participation of the general public in cultural programs.
